Idaho Department of Administration fails to address the issue of multi-state contracts

Mark Reinhardt- Boise Idaho The Department of Administration has just release their 2014-2017 outlining improvement in contract management, “In FY2013, the programs of the Division of Purchasing made significant strides to enhance available resources and service capabilities to better serve their customers.” Covering the issue of contract oversight, it stated, “State Purchasing continued to support improvements in communications and training through individual group/agency workshops, quarterly workshops, quarterly newsletters, and internal and external training for statewide personnel and vendors.” This was done after a report issued by the Idaho State Office of Performance Evaluations on the subject of Contract Oversight What the strategic plan had failed to address, was the issue of Multi-state Contract Agreements through the Western States Contracting Alliance, of which the State of Idaho is a member. The State of Oregon had made a purchase of Rental Vehicles on behalf of the membership alliance, including accepting the terms that the State of Oregon had made with the contractor supplying Rental Vehicles for the membership alliance.

Meanwhile, the Idaho Department of Administration is currently facing issues with an aging workforce. Along with difficulties in retaining Information Technology Specialists due to better wages in the Private Sector.
