On Monday, the Idaho ACLU announced at a Press Conference that they would be suing the City of Boise Idaho over a recently passed Aggressive Soliciation Ordinance. The Ordinance, which passed the Boise City Council on September 17th 2013. Is being challenged by the Idaho ACLU on the grounds of 1st Amendment violations, stating,
"The ACLU relies on private donations of money and other things of value to carry out that mission. Its staff, board members, and volunteers often and frequently solicit donations
from individuals, seeking immediate donations of money and other things of value."
Addressing the issue of how the Ordinance affects the Idaho ACLU, the complaint further stated, "To comply with the City of Boise’s new anti-
solicitation ordinance would require the ACLU to significantly alter its solicitation activities and
to plan both the substance and location of its speech."
Larry Shanks, and Troy Minton, were the other two plaintiffs in the lawsuit against the City of Boise. According to Mr. Minton, this is how he would be affected by the Ordinance,
Idaho ACLU Legal Director Richard Eppnik stated at the Press Conference that he did not believe that Boise Police would enforce the Ordinance even handedly. The parties involved in the Lawsuit later entered Boise City Hall to serve the City Clerk's Office with Federal Court Papers,
